Bret Malley explores the interaction between digital arts, public awareness, and ecology.

Mr. Malley grew up in a small and rapidly expanding mountain town in California and incorporates his first hand experiences of witnessed environmental disconnect into creations of digital artwork as an MFA student at Syracuse University, a private institution in NY. Through the use of video, animation, photo-manipulation, audio and music production, photography, and programming, Bret focuses on the abilities of technologies and digital arts as viable tools to inspire, influence, and engage people and communities with their own local environmental issues, as well as other broader and overarching concerns. His two most current works are based on this direction and focus and within various venues. One recent project is the creation of a book playing on the idea of inversion and expansion (Growth), and the other is immersive, interactive, and interested in a psychological ghost of trash and litter (Afterlife).
